The COVID-19 pandemic has forced offices to close and send their employees to work from home, in effect causing turmoil in the economy. While the IRS is working diligently on a new Form 941 to reflect the changes adopted as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act), some states have taken action to address the payroll difficulties caused by the recent pandemic.

California recently announced that employers may request an extension of up to 60 days from the EDD to file state payroll reports and deposit state payroll taxes without accumulating interest.
