Tech Companies Face Charges for Child Labor and Poor Work Conditions
A legal case has been filed against the world’s largest tech companies by Congolese families who say their children were killed or maimed while mining for cobalt used in smartphones, laptops and electric cars. Listed as defendants in the lawsuit are Apple, Google, Dell, Microsoft and Tesla, which all use cobalt in their devices.
Poor work conditions and child labor are currently used in the supply chain of these products. The case hopes to bring about change and improve human rights.
